Tesla Model 3 Winter Tires: The Complete GTA Guide
The Model 3 is the most common Tesla on GTA roads, which means it's also the car I get the most winter-tire questions about. And fair enough — a Model 3 has specific needs that a generic tire shop might miss: the right load rating, the right TPMS sensors for your model year, proper lift points, and wheels that actually clear your brakes.
Get any of those wrong and you're looking at warning lights, uneven wear, or a wheel that doesn't fit. Get them right and a Model 3 is a fantastic winter car — heavy battery low in the chassis, instant traction control, and preconditioning that warms the battery before you drive.

Know Your Model 3 First
Not all Model 3s take the same winter setup. Before you buy anything, know three things about your car:
Model year. This determines your TPMS sensor type (more on that below). 2021 and newer use Bluetooth sensors. 2017–2020 use 433MHz sensors. This is the single most common ordering mistake.
Trim. Standard Range (RWD), Long Range (AWD), and Performance all have slightly different needs. Performance models have larger brakes — if you're looking at 18" winter wheels for a Performance, verify brake clearance first. Most of our packages are built around fitments we've confirmed, but if you're unsure, call us before ordering.
Your door-jamb label. Open the driver's door and read the sticker. It lists your exact factory tire size, load index, and recommended pressure. Whatever winter setup you choose needs to meet or exceed those specs. This isn't optional — it's how you stay safe and keep your warranty intact.

Wheel Size: Why 18" Wins for Winter
Most Model 3s came with 18" Aero wheels from the factory, and for winter, that's exactly where you want to be. An 18" winter setup gives you a taller sidewall, which means better protection against potholes, a more comfortable ride on rough winter roads, and cheaper tires with more options.
Every package listed below is an 18" setup. That's deliberate — it's the smart winter choice for the Model 3.
Load Rating, Speed Rating, and the Door Jamb
EVs are heavy. A Model 3 weighs considerably more than a gas sedan of the same size, and all that weight sits on four tires. Your winter tires need an XL (extra load) rating at minimum, and the load index must meet or exceed what's on your door-jamb sticker.
Speed rating matters too — don't downgrade it for winter. The packages below are all built to proper Model 3 specs, which is exactly why buying a complete package beats guessing at individual tires.
TPMS: Bluetooth vs 433MHz — Check Your Year
This is where Tesla owners get burned. Tesla switched TPMS technology mid-production:
2021 and newer Model 3: Bluetooth TPMS sensors. Our packages include pre-programmed Bluetooth TPMS sensors, so they pair with your car with no extra programming visit.
2017–2020 Model 3: 433MHz sensors. Bluetooth sensors will not work on these cars.
If you drive a 2017–2020 Model 3, call us at (647) 819-0490 before ordering and we'll set you up with the correct sensors. Ordering the wrong ones means a TPMS warning light all winter.
Tire Pressure in Winter
Tesla's recommended cold tire pressure for the Model 3 is typically 42 psi — but check your door jamb, because it varies by configuration. Check pressures monthly in winter. Cold air drops tire pressure (roughly 1 psi for every 5–6°C drop), and an underinflated EV tire wears faster, handles worse, and costs you range.

Lifting a Model 3: Use the Jack Points
Teslas must be lifted at designated jack points — the reinforced spots on the battery pack rails. Lifting anywhere else can damage the battery, and that's a repair bill nobody wants. We carry proper jack pads and lift every Tesla at the correct points. If a shop ever lifts your Model 3 without them, that's your sign to leave.
Rotation: Don't Skip It
Tesla recommends rotating tires roughly every 10,000 km. EVs wear tires faster than gas cars — instant torque is fun, but it's hungry.
