TIA & Acoustic Foam Compliant Tesla Tire Puncture Repair (Passenger & LT) on-Site

We repair Tesla tires according to TIA tire puncture repair guidelines and tire manufacturer’s specifications . We are certified by TIA - Tire Industry Association. Here’s how it works:

  1. Locate and inspect the puncture area and confirm that the tire is repairable, then we deflate and demount the tire.

  2. Remove acoustic foam around the injured area and inspect the inner liner, carcass, beads, and both sidewalls for secondary damage (ply/liner cracks, bulges, run-flat heat, bead tears, previous repairs). Scrap if any non-repairable conditions are found.

  3. We remove the object; probe from the inside to confirm path and angle.

  4. Using the correct-size carbide cutter/reamer, we skive/ream the injury from the inside out, following its angle to a uniform channel sized for the repair stem. Vacuum all dust.

  5. Inner-liner clean: Use approved cleaner/scraper; no petroleum residues.

  6. Buff the inner liner to a fine, even texture slightly larger than the patch (do not expose body ply; avoid heat). Vacuum buffing dust.

  7. Apply vulcanizing cement into the injury channel (use a cement-coated spiral probe) and over the buffed inner-liner area. Allow to dry to tack (dull, not wet).

  8. Insert the stem from the inside → out until the patch seats flat. For two-piece systems, insert the stem first, then apply the separate patch centered on the injury. Plug-only or patch-only is unacceptable.

  9. Stitch the patch firmly from the center outward in multiple directions to remove trapped air; remove poly film per product instructions.

  10. Apply butyl inner-liner sealer to the prepared area; acoustic foam reinstall is optional and performed only if it can be seated cleanly per manufacturer guidance.

  11. Many manufacturers say don’t re-glue the foam. REMA TIP TOP explicitly doesn’t recommend reinstalling the foam—the tire is serviceable without it.

  12. On the tread side, trim the stem flush with the tread (do not leave proud; do not cut below the tread surface).

  13. Inspect beads and rim; replace valve core if needed. Mount the tire.

  14. Inflate to seat beads safely and set to spec; leak test around the stem and the patch zone (spray or dunk tank). Balance the assembly.

  15. Reinstall wheel, torque lugs to vehicle spec in a star pattern; set TPMS relearn if required.

This is the same method used by most tire shops, but we bring it to your driveway. A proper plug and patch tire repair is safe, permanent, and will last the life of the tire — if the damage is within repairable limits.

Not Repairable?

If your tire is damaged in the sidewall, has a large gash, or has run flat too long, we’ll give you a quote for replacement and can return for a mobile tire install. All of our mobile tire installations (whether it’s a flat tire replacement, or you have purchased a new set of tires from us, are performed observing the TIA tire replacement procedures and your EV manufacturer’s tire specifications).
